Awesome.
Awe-inspiring.
Breathtaking.
Those were just some of the reactions from thousands of spectators who witnessed Space Shuttle Discovery’s aerial tour of the US Capitol region. Discovery, piggy-backing on a modified Boeing 747, landed at Dulles International Airport on April 17 as part of its journey to its new home at the National Air and Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA.
Boeing employees who worked on the shuttle program were on-hand to applaud Discovery’s arrival. View the video to see two of them talk about their Shuttle experience - and what it was like to be there on such a historic day.
