The 1st 178th Infantry Regiment of the Illinois National Guard delivers two humanitarian aid loads to the village of Garmunay in Laghman Province Afghanistan, May 23, 2008. Four kicker-box loads were flown in by a CH-47 Chinook. The purpose of this mission was to conduct a key-leader engagement and deliver humanitarian assistance to the locals of the village as a means of building a stronger relationship to help fight the insurgency.

RAF Dedicates Chinook Room
July 16, 2009, a Chinook Room was dedicated at RAF Odiham in Hampshire, England, with Royal Air Force, MOD and Boeing representatives on hand for the event. The room highlights those who have been honoured by Her Majesty, The Queen, for their commitment, valour and courage under fire. "It is really the men and women of the RAF to whom we must pay tribute and to whom we really dedicate this room," said Jack Dougherty, VP Chinook program. "It is their heroism and valour we celebrate."

The sandbags will help divert water away from an area of the dam that is being eroded by rising water, which also threatens to flood a local creek.
