Carbon Disclosure Project
Boeing has participated in the Carbon Disclosure Project, an independent nonprofit organization that has become the standard for carbon disclosure methodology and process, since 2006.
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Climate Leaders
Boeing joined the industry-government partnership Climate Leaders in 2008, committing to reduce the company's environmental impact by completing a companywide greenhouse gas emissions inventory, establishing reduction targets and reporting progress to the EPA on an annual basis. Boeing's five-year greenhouse gas emissions reduction target was approved by the Climate Leaders program in 2008.
Department of Energy/EPA Energy Star
Boeing's Shared Services Group, which is responsible for site services, energy conservation and much facilities work, leads Boeing's participation in the joint U.S. Department of Energy and EPA Energy Star program for energy management.
International Air Transport Association and Air Transport Action Group
For Boeing's work in commercial aviation, the company supports environmental activities for the International Air Transport Association and the Air Transport Action Group.
The Nature Conservancy International Leadership Council
Boeing serves as a member of the International Leadership Council, one of the world's leading corporate forums on conservation that provides the business community partnership opportunities with The Nature Conservancy to develop solutions to conservation challenges. Boeing is also involved with local state chapters of The Nature Conservancy at many of our major U.S. operating locations.
Pew Center on Global Climate Change Business Environmental Leadership Council
Boeing participates in the Pew Center on Global Climate Change Business Environmental Leadership Council, a group of major companies that exhibit environmental leadership, investment in environmentally progressive products and the support of domestic and global measures to achieve cost-effective reductions in emissions.
Prince's Rainforest Project
Boeing participated in the Prince's Rainforest Project, which was established by HRH The Prince of Wales to help slow the destruction of the world's rainforests. Rainforests regulate rainfall, preserve biodiversity and store vast amounts of carbon. Tropical deforestation is a major cause of greenhouse gas emissions. Boeing's commitment to preserving rainforests is part of the company's overall approach to improving the environment - an approach that also includes recycling, conserving energy and developing efficient products. Boeing is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, a nonprofit organization dedicated to sustainable building practices that develops and administers the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design building standards.
World Business Council for Sustainable Development
Boeing joined the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, a 200-company coalition focused on sustainable development through business leadership. Member companies can explore sustainable development, share knowledge, experiences and best practices, and advocate business positions on these issues.
World Environment Center
Boeing is a member of the World Environment Center, a global non-profit organization that helps companies around the world implement environmentally sustainable business strategies and operations.
