RCRA Facility Assessment

The objective of a RCRA Facility Assessment (RFA) is to determine if a release has occurred from a Solid Waste Management Unit (SWMU) to environmental media (i.e., soil, groundwater, surface water, air, etc.). Specifically, an RFA:

The Santa Susana RFA report was completed May 1994. The major sections of the report are Facility Description and Environmental Setting followed by sections describing each SWMU and Area of Concern (AOC) by Area. In 1994, the RFA report identified 125 SWMUs/AOCs. Subsequent investigations and historical document research during the RFI phase have identified additional SWMUs/AOCs bringing the total to 135 (see map).
