Santa Susana

Surface Water Management Program

Santa Susana is located at the top of Woolsey Canyon in the Simi Hills, CA. The site comprises of approximately 2,800 acres and is largely undeveloped property and is regulated under an active National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit under the oversight of the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) for the discharges of storm water and industrial waste water.

While some facility operations at the site are ongoing, they are greatly reduced from past operational levels, and process water for discharges associated with rocket engine testing and other support operations have ceased. Thus, discharges from the site are monitored for stormwater and effluent of the groundwater treatment operations.
