Ground-based Midcourse Defense
Following a recent contract award, Boeing continues to provide unmatched expertise and a proven record of support for Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), providing the United States with its only operational defense against long-range ballistic missiles. With operational ground-based interceptors deployed in Alaska and California, dual fire control centers and a communications network that spans 12 times zones, GMD has a proven capability to engage and destroy long-range ballistic missiles flying more than 15,000 miles per hour.
