V-22 Osprey
The Osprey is a true multi-role combat aircraft. Its tiltrotor technology combines the vertical performance of a helicopter with the speed and range of a fixed wing aircraft. The result: twice the speed of other rotorcraft, with over three to six times the range. The Osprey’s unique design creates enduring value for the warfighter — V-22 operations require fewer aircraft, personnel, and support than conventional rotorcraft. In fact, the MV-22 had the lowest cost per seat mile of any United States Navy rotorcraft in 2010.
