Global Positioning System IIF
Boeing’s Global Positioning System (GPS) legacy goes back to the very beginning of a program that’s used daily by more than one billion military and civilian users throughout the world. Since 1974, Boeing has delivered more than 40 GPS satellites to the U.S. Air Force. Now the GPS IIF system brings next-generation performance to the constellation with greater navigational accuracy; a new civilian signal for commercial aviation and search and rescue operations; improved military signal and variable power for better resistance to jamming; reduced operating costs; and an on-orbit, reprogrammable processor that can receive software uploads for improved operation.
