Dynamitron

Beam Delivery / Experimental Area

Dynamitron with Cover Removed
Type of Simulator Electron and positive ion accelerator
Application X-rays, electrons, protons, and low-Z ions for TREE and space radiation effects.
Test Object Size Variable, depending of application
General Description The Dynamitron is a dc beam accelerator capable of producing up to 10 mA of electrons or hundreds of microamps of positive ions from 0.2 to 2.8 MeV.

It can be operated in e-beam or x-ray modes to produce high current pulses in the range from 1 ms to continuous.

Large-volume vacuum test chambers are available for space radiation simulation, which can be combined with ultraviolet and thermal cycle environments. Solar cell I-V response can be measured in-situ. Test parameters and operating characteristics are very flexible.
