- The gamma
vault is a multi source cobalt-60 irradiator, designed for variable, low dose
rate and low back-scatter irradiation of larger subassemblies as well as semiconductor
components.
- Cobalt-60 sources are raised from a water well by remote
operation to a height significantly above the shielding material for in-air irradiation.

Both the quantity of the sources and the distance from the test item to source
can be altered to vary the exposure rate.
- Dose rates possible range from
< 1.0mrad(Si)/s to > 20 rad(Si)/s.
- The maximum separation between
test item and the source(s) is limited by the room size to 15 feet or less.
