First Officer Programs

From the "street to the right seat"

The Boeing Pilot & Technician Outlook indicates that the demand for pilots will continue to grow at an explosive rate over the next 20 years. Boeing Flight Services has responded to this need by creating customizable, integrated training solutions that produce First Officers who are fully qualified for multi-crew jet operations.

First Officer Academy

Training

Boeing works with a variety of accredited flight schools around the world to offer training solutions designed specifically for First Officer candidates who have little or no previous flight experience. Candidates progress continuously through the three phases of professional training: from initial single- and multi-engine qualification, through orientation to jet operations, to a type rating on a commercial jetliner. Those who complete the program will be ready to assume the right seat on the flight deck. Boeing supports airlines globally with a wide variety of training solutions with highly qualified instructors and innovative programs that address industry needs

Multi-Crew Pilot License (MPL) Program

MPL is a competency-based approach to pilot training using state-of-the-art simulation technology. The program shifts the focus from accumulation of flight hours to demonstrated competency and performance as an airline crew member. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) developed MPL in response to airlines' request for training focused specifically on developing qualified pilots more efficiently and effectively.

Boeing has developed a comprehensive MPL training program available to flight schools and airlines through a licensing agreement.
