Boeing employees are involved in their communities in various ways, including contributions to The Employees Community Fund (ECF) of The Boeing Company, the largest employee-directed fund of its kind in the world; employee volunteerism via company-sponsored activities; and participation in employee drives that support local nonprofit organizations in the area of health and human services.
In Chicago, the group that directs these efforts collectively is known as "Boeing in Community" or BIC. BIC consists of employees who lead in coordinating volunteer activities, drives, family days and other employee-focused events as a team.
When considering grants through ECF, any BIC member also can participate in reviewing the request from local nonprofits seeking ECF support and in making site visits to these organizations. A subset of BIC is responsible for voting on whether a grant is approved.
By aligning ECF, volunteer activities, drives and other employee community involvement opportunities, BIC ensures that all efforts leverage the greater Boeing community and lead to greater impact.
