Q. What is the purpose of the International EAP?
A. For all covered employees and dependents, the IEAP provides access to short term professional counseling away from the workplace. It provides you with confidential professional consultation on a wide range of personal problems and issues. For U.S. expatriates, it may also help employees to overcome difficulties sometimes encountered while on international assignment such as marital/family problems; feelings of isolation or loneliness; difficulty in adjusting to a new culture; anxiety and stress; alcohol/drug problems, and workplace issues. One intent of the EAP is to enhance workplace productivity by giving managers and employees a resource for situations where employees are distracted by unresolved personal, family, or emotional issues.
Q. Who is eligible to use the IEAP?
A. The IEAP is available to U.S. expatriates and to their accompanying dependents, as defined by Boeing medical plans. It is also available to international locally hired employees, and to their eligible dependents For international locally hired employees, covered dependents are the spouse, cohabitating partner, or family members who reside with international locally hired employees in their home locations or who are financially dependent upon them. The service is not available to contract employees.
Q. What are the qualifications of IEAP counselors?
A. FGIworld's professional multi-disciplinary team of EAP counselors have a minimum of a Master's Degree, 10 years of clinical experience, and are certified members of their respective local professional associations.
Q. How many sessions can I have with an IEAP counselor?
A. The EAP is intended to address short-term problems that you may be experiencing. You and/or your eligible dependents are entitled to a total of six sessions per issue in each calendar year.
Q. Is my confidentiality assured?
A. Any contacts you make to the Employee Assistance Program are confidential, and are protected under the privacy and confidentiality statutes/regulations that are applicable in your country, as well as under Boeing policy. Furthermore, your counselor will not schedule back-to-back appointments with people from the same company, ensuring that they will not accidentally meet each other. In addition, identifying telephone messages are never left at work or home without your permission. The IEAP has been designed to provide you with a supportive and confidential environment to address personal problems.
Q. Where do I go to receive counseling?
A. Counseling will be arranged with you for a location outside the workplace. In the event you are in a community where a counselor is not available, FGIworld will make special arrangements to help you get the assistance you need, including telephonic or secure electronic counseling as an alternative. (Note: E-counseling option not available to international locally hired employees.)
Q. What is the language capability of the program?
A. While your initial call will most likely be answered in English, FGIworld has a range of language capabilities. If you need to communicate in a language other than English, the FGIworld professional who answers your call will introduce a translator into the call within 25 seconds. You will then receive a call within 72 business hours from a counselor proficient in your local language who will initiate the counseling and arrange a first appointment. If you have a specific language need for your counseling, please advise FGIworld's staff during your initial call.
