Haptic Force Generation
Voxmap PointShellTM provides a haptic force generation model to bring the sense of touch to objects that exist in virtual environments. These forces can be used to direct a variety of haptics devices or as the collision component of physically based simulations.
- In a haptics simulation forces from all collisions must be used to generate the resultant force and torque on the haptic device. The force model used here takes advantage of the VPS ability to detect all collisions quickly.
- The VPS force generation method was designed to work with haptic devices with up to 6 degree-of-freedom:
Image - 6-DOF device | Movie - 6-DOF application.
