Boeing

They Knew How to Lead

By Jerry Rasmussen

April 2016

One of my favorite times at Boeing was on the 767 program in Everett, Wash. I was selected to be on the ground floor of the program, which was a great experience and opportunity. The program had great leaders like Dean Thornton, who was VP/GM, Alan Pomeroy and many others.

The management team all had excellent technical skills, but the big plus was they were all leaders who knew how to lead and inspire the entire team. Another senior manager I admired was Jerry Milligan. Tough negotiator, demanded a lot, but if he had a little extra time he would share his insights and pass along tips and ideas to make your job easier.

Unfortunately, Mr.Thornton and Mr. Pomeroy have both passed away, but their contributions to Boeing and employees they mentored will live on.
