- Commercial airplane engineering and modification services through our recently launched Boeing Airplane Services unit. This business provides passenger-to-freighter conversions, interior reconfiguration programs, and extensive engineering services, including avionics upgrades, performance improvements, and other enhancements on both Boeing- and Douglas-built airplanes. We intend to grow this business into the worldÕs number one provider of these services.
- The industryÕs most comprehensive airplane spare-parts distribution system, with seven (soon to be eight) distribution centers around the world. We were the first to offer spares ordering on the World Wide Web, and now more than 600 customers routinely access our Boeing PART Page. Our spares catalogs, with nearly half a million part numbers, are by far the largest in the industry. We were also the first to offer 24-hour routine next-day shipment of spares, so our inventory becomes your inventory, saving you money.
- Training for maintenance and flight crews in the 100-seat-and-above airplane market through FlightSafety Boeing Training International, the worldÕs largest and most comprehensive airline training provider. By developing the first global training delivery system, FlightSafety Boeing provides one-stop shopping for all your training needs, with 15 locations worldwide closer to your operations.
- Maintenance engineering and publications to help airlines maintain their airplanes in peak operating condition. We customize airplane maintenance information for each airlineÕs specific needs and offer that data in traditional and digital formats (see ÒDigital Data Products and Services for Commercial AirplanesÓ in Aero no. 5, Jan. 1999). We were the first in the industry to offer direct access to our technical databases through Boeing On-Line Data (BOLD). We also developed the Portable Maintenance Aid, a laptop-based tool to help airline technicians troubleshoot problems more quickly.
- Technical support for all Boeing and Douglas airplanes, including out-of-production models, through our Service Engineering team. This team is available to you 24 hours a day,
365 days a year, at a single phone number (see inside back cover). Service engineers are on call to work with your organization and our airplane manufacturing divisions to prevent and resolve in-service problems.
