CNS/ATM Focused Team (C/AFT)

C/AFT was an airline-driven group, originally chaired by American Airlines. Boeing provided analytical support and acted as secretariat. C/AFT's purpose was to facilitate Communication Navigation Surveillance / Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) implementation progress by developing global airline economic consensus on problem issues.

C/AFT Chairman: Captain Russell Chew, American Airlines (Managing Director, System Operations Control).

2003 update: C/AFT has not met since 2001, and has no plans to meet in the near future. This page web site will be maintained to provide access to C/AFT documentation and presentations.

Restructure of C/AFT: The C/AFT Core Group meeting of Aug. 31, 2000 proposed to radically restructure C/AFT's Focus Groups to retarget efforts towards a more market-based approach, rather than one based on functional/operational aspects. View the Powerpoint presentation on C/AFT Restructuring that includes a mapping of the Terms of Reference to each new Focus Group, and read the Core Group minutes that explain the restructuring proposal. Go to the Focus Groups page to read more about the proposed restructuring of C/AFT.
