IOC Frequently Asked Questions:
How is Boeing going to calculate "Value Base Fees"?
The "Value-Based Use Fees" will be developed for a proposal based on the type of modification being done, the number of aircraft affected, the value to market, and similar factors.
Can I use the information provided to modify other aircraft not initially included in the license?
No, however, with Boeing's agreement, the IOC license can be amended to include additional airplanes or other models if necessary to support the business plans of the licensee.
Will Boeing provide fundamental design information such as stress and load data to support the licensee when engineering a modification?
No, we consider this type of information to be highly sensitive and are not willing to license it. However, our Technical Services, and Modifications group will, upon request, propose a consulting agreement providing analysis of that information to support the certification of your modification project, once the IOC license is in place.
Can the IOC licensee provide proprietary information to its subcontractors and suppliers?
Yes, information can be provided to subcontractors and suppliers of the licensee for the purposes of engineering and installation of the airplane modification under license. The licensee must have subcontractors and suppliers sign a Contractor Confidentially Agreement before transferring to them any Boeing proprietary information.
Who needs to obtain an IOC modification license?
Any party that requests information directly from Boeing will be required to sign a license agreement. In most cases the licensee will be the organization responsible for engineering the modification and obtaining certification from local regulatory authorities.
