ENGINE RUN-UP RESTRICTIONS
Engine Run-up Policies and Procedures

It is the policy of John Wayne Airport that all aircraft operations on the Airport shall be conducted in such a manner that noise impact on the community is minimized; and to preclude the possibility of undue nuisance or damage to persons or property.

Prior to any aircraft engine maintenance run-ups or service checks being performed, the operator must obtain approval from Airport Operations or Airport Police Services. The operator shall contact the Airport Operations Division at (949) 252-5256 between the hours of 0530 and midnight. Airport Operations personnel can also be reached through the Airport Operator at (949) 852-4000. Run-ups during the period of midnight-0530 shall be coordinated with the Desk Officer of Airport Police Services at (949) 252-5000. No run-ups shall be performed in the Isolation Area without prior permission from Airport Operations or Airport Police Services personnel. No runups shall be performed in the Isolation Area without prior authorization as noted above. For more information on run-up permissible conditions or hours of operation contact Airport Operations.

APU OPERATING RESTRICTIONS
Airport policy does not allow APU use adjacent to North RON 3 & 4, due to the proximity of parking structures.

Penalty for violation:

In the event an aircraft exceeds the GANO noise limits at any one or more locations, a "Notice of Violation" will be issued to the registered owner of the aircraft. The "Notice of Violation" applies to the aircraft owner, the aircraft operator, and the aircraft. "Notices of Violation" remain in effect for three years after the violation date.

If three General Aviation Noise Ordinance violations occur within a three-year period, the aircraft owner, the aircraft operator and the aircraft are subject to denial of use of John Wayne Airport for a period of three years.

STAGE 2 RESTRICTIONS
Stage 2 airplanes >75,000 lbs are prohibited from operating at airports within the 48 contiguous states.

Only Stage 3 operations have occurred at SNA since 1985.
