CONTINUOUS DESCENT ARRIVAL
(CDA) - NONE
AIRPORT CURFEWS
| Airport is closed to air carrier aircraft with more than 30 passenger seats between 2100 and 0700 except with prior permission from the Airport Director. This restriction is due to the hazard associated with conflicting traffic patterns of large and small aircraft. Boeing and Goodrich attempt to avoid run-ups between 10pm and 7am. |
PREFERENTIAL RUNWAYS - NONE
OPERATING QUOTA - NONE
ENGINE RUN-UP RESTRICTIONS
Snohomish County Airport-Paine Field is exempt from county and city noise ordinances. In addition, "sounds originating from aircraft in flight and sounds that originate at airports which are directly related to flight operations" are exempt from all provisions of WAC 173-60. However, WAC 173-60-050 states that sounds created by aircraft engine testing and maintenance not related to flight operations are only exempt.
1) between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.; and
2) when aircraft testing and maintenance is conducted at remote sites whenever possible.
Due to the close proximity of residential housing, WAC 173-60-040 limits sounds created by aircraft engine testing and maintenance to 50 dBA continuous noise level at the residential receiving property between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
The Snohomish County noise ordinance was adopted on June 4, 1997. |

NOISE MONITORING SYSTEM
| Paine Field has 3 Larson-Davis Model 831 Noise monitors. Currently there are 3 permanently installed at sites approaching 16R and W of the airport. A monitor is also set up in a portable trailer. The monitoring system collects data on single event and cumulative noise levels. Single event data is correlated to aircraft operations and complaint data.
