NOISE ABATEMENT PROCEDURES
| Local Flying Restrictions
a) Glider flying not permitted;
b) Procedure for VFR flights within CTR Salzburg and within
SRA I + II of TMA Salzburg (see AIP Volume II AD 2.22);
c) Restrictions for night VFR flights: Night VFR flights within
the aerodrome traffic circuit (traffic circuit flights) as well
as successive approaches and departures of night VFR flights
with the same aircraft at short intervals are permitted for
noise abatement reasons from Monday to Thursday (inclusive)
only.
d) The published standard instrument departure routes (SID)
are also noise abatement procedures; strict adherence is compulsory
within the limits of perfomance of aircraft (see AIP Volume
II AD 2.24);
e) Training flights of civil jet engines with prior permission
by Salzburg Airport Administration only
f) NDB and ILS approach procedures to RWY 16 as well as a circling
procedure to RWY 34 see AIP Volume II AD 2.22 and AD 2.24g)
For noise abatement reasons on Sunday and legal holidays it
is not permitted for motor driven aircraft to execute
- VFR flights within the aerodrome traffic circuit (traffic
circuit flights)
- Local flights, that means VFR flights with Departure/Arrival
in Salzburg
without en-route stop on a different aerodrome with a duration
of less than 20 minutes and
- repeated approaches and departures with the same aircraft
at intervals of less than 20 minutes.
|
CONTINUOUS DESCENT ARRIVAL
(CDA)
| There is a CDA for Salzburg Airport starting 15 nm
before the runway for landing on Runway 16 - shown in the AIP LOWS
AD 2.24-6-1. The CDA can be used during opening hours 0600 - 2300
local time. For IFR flights used by app. 90%. |
AIRPORT CURFEWS
|
See AIP Austria 10 April 2009 AD 2 LOWS 2-12
The airport operating hours of Salzburg airport are 0500-2200
(0400-2100) all year.
Local Flying Restrictions:
1. Departures are permitted only for aircraft whose noise
level at departure measured at noise-measuring station 4 is not
exceeding 98 decibel SEL.
2. Between 2100 and 2200 local time landings of all aircraft are
permitted.
3. Between 2200 and 2300 local time departures are permitted only
for delayed commercial flights.
4. Between 2200-2300 local time landings are permitted
only for flights performed by aircraft whose noise level at landing
measured at noise-measuring station 4 is not exceeding 84
decibel SEL.
5. Between 0600 and 0700 local time landings are permitted for
all aircraft.

NOISE MONITORING SYSTEM
The map showing the locations of the 5 noise monitoring
stations was provided by the airport. There are limits at each monitor
location, see noise level limits below. Refering to the 6th noise
monitoring terminal - it is not shown on the map however, it is
in the implemented AIP for LOWS
The airport has installed a Brüel & Kjaer noise and flight
track monitoring system with five measuring points, of which two
are located on German territory. The system, which is the first
fixed one to be installed in Austria, is correlated by software
with the airport's Thomsom CSF radar. |
