NOISE ABATEMENT PROCEDURES

The Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority's ongoing flight track monitoring program of airlines for compliance to Noise Abatement Departure procedures. The average compliance percentage for the last twelve months was 94%

Northbound and Southbound jet aircraft that are departing on Runway 32 shall be given initial departure instructions to make climbing left turn to intercept the SRQ3 R-265 westbound or as assigned by ATC. Expect radar vectors to join assigned route, Maintain 3000’ or ATC assigned altitude. Expect clearance to filed altitude 10 minutes after departure. Take-Off Minimums: ATC climb of 500ft per NM to 500. DO NOT TURN PRIOR TO DEPARTURE END OF RUNWAY. Residents in areas southwest of this point are greatly affected by the noise from early low altitude turns by jet aircraft.

All aircraft that are departing Runway 14 are to climb heading 136 degrees. Expect radar vectors to join assigned route, thence… maintain 3000ft or ATC assigned altitude. Expect clearance to filed altitude 10 minutes after departure.

In July 1990, the Airport Authority adopted a nighttime noise rule for jet engine aircraft. If a major airline schedules a departure after 10 pm and before 7 am, using a Stage 2, the airline can be fined $5000 per incident. This rule applies to private jets too. It does not apply to arrivals.

ENGINE RUN-UP RESTRICTIONS
The airport policy prohibits non-emergency maintenance run-ups between the hours of 10 pm and 7 am. Non-emergency refers to all circumstances except those involving scheduled air carrier aircraft in service or soon to be in service which if not repaired immediately, would strand or seriously delay passengers at the airport. Also excluded are aircraft in use for emergencies.
