Winnipeg Division Achieves AS9100 Registration
Boeing Canada Technology Winnipeg Division and Canadian Auto Workers Local 2169 Negotiate a Three-Year Collective Agreement
WINNIPEG, MB July 11, 2005 -- "This is good news," announced Mark Ross, General Manager of Boeing Canada Technology, Winnipeg Division. The three-year deal negotiated between Boeing Winnipeg and the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) Local 2169 was ratified by its members by an overwhelming majority of 91.4% in favour. The previous contract expired Sunday, July 10th 2005 at midnight.
The contract includes a 2.4% increase in wages in each of the three years, a $1,000 one-time signing bonus, pension and group benefit improvements, and a continuance of the Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) provisions.
"It was important for us to negotiate a contract which would balance the interests of all key stakeholders -- the employees, customers, the community, investors and the Union," said Ross. "I believe we've worked together towards an agreement that will enable us to excel with our business plan, maintain our competitive edge, attract future work and allow our employees to share in the company's success."
CAW Local 2169 represents 760 employees of Boeing Canada Technology, Winnipeg Division. The Winnipeg Division is the largest aerospace composite manufacturing centre in Canada, employing over 960 people who produce composite parts and assemblies for Boeing 737NG, 747, 767, 777 aircraft and the newest of the Boeing fleet -- the 787 Dreamliner.
Winnipeg Division Achieves AS9100 Registration
20-November-04--Winnipeg, Manitoba Boeing Canada Technology, Winnipeg Division, is proud to announce third party registration to AS9100 Rev. B, the internationally recognized standard of quality in the aerospace industry.
Quality Management Institute (QMI) recommended Winnipeg Division for registration after we achieved a perfect score on the initial audit.
AS9100 is an internationally recognized quality standard developed by the International Aerospace Quality Group.
Winnipeg Announces Reinforced Thermoplastic Lamination (RTL) Capability
22-June-2004--Winnipeg, Manitoba Winnipeg Division has added Reinforced Thermoplastic Lamination to our composite manufacturing capabilities.
Reinforced Thermoplastic Laminates are manufactured with a custom-designed heat form press, eliminating autoclave curing. They offer the performance of advanced composites with significant savings over traditional hand layup, including:
- 40% weight savings over aluminum
- 75% labour savings over traditional hand layup
- 65% reduction in flow time over traditional hand layup
Reinforced Thermoplastic Lamination is well suited to high volume applications, including clips, brackets, close-outs, access doors and panels.
Currently, Winnipeg Division produces Wing Slat Flex Tabs for the 737 Next Generation and the 777 airplane programs.

Winnipeg Division Announces 2004 Supplier Management and Procurement Award Winners
18-March-2004--Winnipeg, Manitoba Boeing Canada Technology Winnipeg Division is proud to announce the winners of the 2003 Supplier Performance Awards.
"Winnipeg Division's Supplier Performance Awards recognize consistently strong performance among our supplier partners," says Kelly Slater, Director of Supplier Management and Procurement, Winnipeg Division. "It is my pleasure to congratulate each of our partners in the gold, silver and bronze categories for their excellent performance and their dedication to working together."
Each month, in an ongoing effort to work together with suppliers to gain overall best value, Winnipeg Division Procurement Agents discuss and review supplier performance data to determine supplier ratings. Suppliers earn points based on their performance. As in golf, suppliers strive to achieve the lowest score possible; the lower the score, the better their performance. Suppliers can achieve gold, silver, bronze or "other" status, depending upon points earned during the last 12-month period.
