The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption recently recognized Boeing for its robust adoption benefit programs in three categories on its 2019 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplace list. Recognition included appearances in the following categories:
- Top 100 U.S. companies for adoption assistance and paid leave.
- Top companies by industry, with Boeing the only aerospace industry listed.
- Top 10 companies for best impact, given to companies with more than 1,000 employees that provide the largest overall financial benefits and have the capacity to reach the greatest number of employees.
Boeing has offered the Adoption Assistance Program since 2016 and recently doubled the reimbursement amount for eligible expenses to $10,000 per adopted child (for up to two children) for adoptions finalized after Dec. 31, 2018. In 2019, Boeing also increased paid parental leave to 12 weeks for eligible employees. Only 53 companies on the Adoption-Friendly Workplaces list offered the same adoption financial assistance and paid leave policies.
“Boeing is honored to be recognized as one of the top adoption-friendly workplaces in the U.S.,” said Greg Marchand, director of Boeing Global Benefits. “The Adoption Assistance Program and Paid Family Leave are just two programs that are part of Boeing’s commitment to offering market-leading benefits that support the needs of employees and their families.”
The Boeing Adoption Assistance Program reimburses up to $10,000 of eligible adoption expenses related to the adoption of a child under 18, or any age if physically or mentally incapable of caring for himself or herself. Those eligible for the program may receive reimbursement benefits for up to two adoptions.
Boeing also offers paid parental leave to eligible employees for the birth, surrogacy or placement of a foster child for up to 12 weeks of bonding per event.
