Arts & Culture
The Boeing Company makes contributions to arts & cultural organizations, which are found to be innovative and collaborative, in the following areas.
Local Strategies
- 1. Providing stability to a core group of arts organizations in King, Pierce & Snohomish Counties
- Boeing provides general operating support to non profit arts organizations through our partnership with ArtsFund (www.artsfund.org) in King & Pierce counties, Standing Ovation (www.standingovation.org) in east King County, and Arts United in Snohomish County. Additionally, the company funds direct sponsorships with charter members of ArtsFund and to a limited number of continuing members of ArtsFund. Other core agencies include children's museums, science centers, Museum of Flight and Future of Flight.
- 2. Support for capacity building events/activities/programs that build strength and infrastructure of local arts organizations.
- Boeing provides support to organizations serving nonprofits, as well as local nonprofit conferences
- 3. 3. Artistic expressions that address areas of diversity (ethnicity, sexual orientation, disabled, seniors); where true cultural "exchange" activities happen, with the intent of breaking down barriers and building understanding.
- Cultural festivals are supported through a partnership with Ethnic Heritage Council, Seattle Center Foundation FESTAL, Seattle International Children's Festival, Bumbershoot and Northwest Folklife.
Boeing is unable to support:
- Cultural/Ethnic festivals-due to the large volume, we are unable to support individual festivals
- Arts Education
- funding for school groups to attend arts performances/exhibitions
- Tuition-based arts programs, performances that are "recital" in nature
- Arts curriculum
- Choral groups -- groups for which members pay to participate
- Capital campaigns for organizations with limited history of support from The Boeing Company
