Loaned Labor (Washington)
United Way: Each fall, Boeing loans several employees to local United Ways to help with their annual fund-raising efforts. These loaned employees bring their skills from Boeing into the community to help the United Way, a non-profit funder for community services, raise money for critical health and human services. The community benefits because of the money raised for health and human services; the United Way wins because the nonprofit does not need to hire anyone to fill these positions; Boeing wins because loaned employees return to work with additional skills that they can apply on the job; and the employee wins because he or she generally grows both personally and professionally.
Intellectual Capital: In addition, employees also are loaned to nonprofits for longer-term projects where specific skills are needed to complete projects that benefit the community as a whole; such as, construction management, organizational development, and lean expertise.
