Books & Backpacks Drive
Every summer during the annual drive, Boeing employees donate new books that are distributed by Page Ahead, a local nonprofit that works for children's literacy. Employees also donate backpacks and school supplies so that less advantaged children in the greater Puget Sound area will have the tools they need to succeed in school. Most of these backpacks and supplies are distributed through the Kids In Need program, a partnership with World Vision, School, Home and Office Products Association, the Boeing Bluebills and The Boeing Company.
In 2002, employees in the Puget Sound area donated 14,948 books, 4,272 backpacks (3,166 empty and 1,106 full) and 592 boxes of schools supplies for local children.
