Food and Essentials/Coats and Blankets Drive
Every fall, people at Boeing know to search their closets for warm coats and blankets and to pick up extra nonperishable food items when out shopping. Employees then donate them during the annual drive in September for nonperishable food, essential items and warm coats, jackets and blankets. Donations are given to local food banks and shelters to help people who face a bleak winter. In 2002, employees gave more than 101,000 pounds of food and essentials and nearly 17,000 articles of warm clothing and blankets.
