Health and Human Services
A large percentage of our corporate allocations for Washington State are directed to United Way to distribute to local nonprofits based upon community needs.
The remaining dollars fund projects and programs of area nonprofit organizations that both align with our corporate Health and Human Services focus area objective and meet our Local Strategies and Guidelines below.

Local Strategies
- 1. Address barriers to achieving economic self-sufficiency of our communities most vulnerable residents, specifically through:
- Delivery of skill attainment, education and training services that are pathways to livable wage jobs
- Promotion of financial literacy/stability through asset building
- Promotion of youth developmental asset-building through structured community programs designed to have a direct productive effect upon their future economic stability and independence.
- Access to healthcare resources, assessment and services.
- 2. Invest and leverage resources to increase efficiencies within health and human services "systems," such as:
- Service-enriched housing.
- Hunger programs/food distribution.
Local Guidelines
- Primary focus is onthe geographic regions of Snohomish, King, and Pierce counties where our employees live and work.
- We also support health and human services nonprofits in Island, Skagit, Kitsap and Thurston counties through our partnerships with local United Way organizations.
- Emphasis is on sustainable, scalable and replicable programs beyond the period of investment. We emphasize programs that are catalyst for positive and systemic change and have a broad base of community support.
- We target larger underlying socio-cultural factors that address multiple issues for greater local and aggregate impact, recognizing that there are other factors that affect individual and community health and well-being.
- We focus on issues rather than specific populations. Boeing's collective emphasis is across populations with particular attention to disparities between populations.
- We leverage Boeing resources, such as cash, in-kind, sponsorships, and employee involvement, to maximize our impact of addressing community needs.
