Loaned Employees
Each fall, Boeing loans several employees to local United Ways to help with their annual fund-raising efforts. These loaned employees bring their skills from Boeing into the community to help the United Way, a non-profit funder for community services, raise money for critical health and human services. The arrangement is a "win-win." The community benefits because of the money raised for health and human services; the United Way wins because the nonprofit does not need to hire anyone to fill these positions; Boeing wins because loaned employees return to work with additional skills that they can apply on the job; and the employee wins because he or she generally grows both personally and professionally. Last year, about 20 employees participated.
On some occasions, employees also are loaned to nonprofits for longer-term projects where specific skills are needed to complete projects that benefit the community as a whole.
