Program Administration
Executive Advisor
Puget Sound - TBD
The executive advisors serve as managerial liaison with the executives of the company. They give administrative and technical counsel to the program manager, ensure sponsorship and support of Participation With Industry programs by all levels of management and meet regularly with students to answer questions and discuss issues of current importance.
Program Coordinators
Gary Kampmeinert - St. Louis
Mary Lou Phillips - Huntington Beach, Vandenberg AFB, Cape Canaveral
Jan M. Phillips - Seattle
The program coordinators are responsible for managing the program and planning and attending students' visits to company executives, symposia, seminars, and other defense and space contract programs. The coordinator counsels functional and program managers to arrange orientation schedules, job assignments, and evaluations for the students. In addition, program coordinators maintain a liaison and a working relationship with those military and government organizations wishing to place one of their programs with the company. Their prime responsibility is to assist each student in obtaining an optimal educational experience.
Mentors
Mentors are managers selected from both the central functional areas and the various product organizations of the company to assist the program coordinator by giving initial instruction during orientation, counseling, and assistance in job placement to the students. They provide a one-on-one management internship program for their assigned students and are resources for information in their respective areas of expertise. Throughout the year, the mentors provide individualized forums for discussion, guiding the students by drawing from their own broad experience. They also conduct seminars to keep the students informed about current and technical issues within the company and industry, educating the students on subjects not encountered within the normal course of job assignments.
Job Sponsors
Job sponsors are the managers to whom the students report while on job assignments. Job sponsors are responsible for designing appropriate work assignments; structuring (with the student) the job schedule; monitoring assignment effectiveness for the mentor and the program coordinator; inviting the student to attend organizational, staff, and decision-making meetings; and identifying trips and/or meetings with suppliers and customers that are educational and relate to the job such as negotiations, preliminary design reviews, fact findings, test evaluations, and supplier surveys.
