Pueblo, Colorado — Centrally located between major launch complexes at Cape Canaveral in Florida and Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, our Pueblo plant is the site where Delta II and III rocket components are assembled. Pictured above are two members of the Delta II team assembling a payload fairing for a NASA scientific mission scheduled for launch in early 1999. The Delta II medium-capacity rocket is the world’s most reliable expendable launch vehicle. In 1998, there were 12 successful Delta II launches carrying satellite payloads for NASA, U.S. military, and commercial customers. The Delta III intermediate-class rocket, which has more than twice the lifting power of the Delta II, failed in its inaugural launch because of problems with the control system, but is scheduled to fly again in early 1999 (for more on launch vehicles, see the EELV story - click HERE).
