Delta 3914 (1975)
Over the years Delta has been continually changed and made bigger to meet the larger payload demands of commercial customers.
The Delta 3914 was the first launch vehicle program undertaken on a commercial basis. Development costs were paid by McDonnell Douglas with reimbursement to come from payments made by commercial users. On Dec. 12,1975, it performed flawlessly in its first launch by placing in orbit RCA's Satcom-I.
