F-4 Phantom II

U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Phantoms

First operational Phantom squadrons VF-74 and VF-114 began receiving F4H-1s in July 1961. VF-74 went aboard the USS Forrestal for carrier qualification in January 1962, and deployed the following summer.
