CAPE CANAVERAL AIR FORCE STATION, Fla., 17 Feb., 1997 — A Boeing Delta II rocket sens NASA's NEAR spacecraft on a rendezvous with the near-Earth asteroid Eros. The mission ended in 2001 when scientists landed the spacecraft on the asteroid.
