Ground-based Midcourse Defense
GMD Flight Test - 03a -- FTG-03a took place on Sept. 28, 2007. The target shown here launching from Kokiak, Alaska, was successfully intercepted by an operationally configured interceptor launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. The launch was part of the flight test program for the Ground-based Midcourse Defense program.
