Major Milestone Completed on Turkey's First Peace Eagle Aircraft
SEATTLE , May 26, 2005 -- Boeing workers in Seattle, Wash. have installed a reinforced upper section of the fuselage on the first 737 Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft (foreground) for Turkey's Peace Eagle program. The aircraft's main MESA radar antenna will be attached to that section later this year.
Turkey has purchased four 737 AEW&C aircraft with delivery of the first two scheduled for 2007. The final three aircraft will be modified by Tusas Aerospace Industries in Ankara, Turkey.
