Mentor Protégé Opportunities - Request for Information
This Request for Information (RFI) pertains to potential Mentor Protégé (MP) opportunities on the Future Combat Systems (FCS) program. The FCS Lead System Integrator (LSI) team of Boeing and SAIC are exploring opportunities to utilize Small Diverse Businesses under a Mentor Protégé agreement to work with a FCS Integrated Product Team (IPT) in one or more of the areas listed below. The purpose of this RFI is to identify Protégé candidates whose development goals are a good match for the Program's needs. To be eligible to participate in this RFI, respondents must be a SDB/WOSB/SDVOSB/HUBZone meeting the Small Business Administration size requirements as set forth in the Mentor Protégé Requirements.
- Support in the following areas is being considered for a Mentor Protégé Agreement:
- Service-based software architecture technology
- Innovative computers and signal processors
- Through-wall sensing
- Through-foliage sensing
- Remote chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear sensing
- Sensor display technology - vehicle to soldier
- Mine detection from stand-off, on the move
- Affordable integrated multi-mode combat ID
- Lightweight appliqué armor
- Unattended sensors and munitions
- Advanced ammunition variants
- Non-lethal munitions
- High bandwidth networks
- Multi-level secure communications
- Networked fires systems and algorithms
- Sensor data fusion algorithms and processors

In closing, companies are hereby advised of the following:
- The RFI does not commit Boeing to award respondent a contract or to pay any costs incurred in the preparation or submission of a proposal.
- It is anticipated that the FCS Program will pursue approximately 1-3 Mentor Protégé projects over time. The ultimate number of projects pursued will depend upon many factors including identification of suitable projects and candidates as well as funding.
- Release of future RFI's and RFQ's will be subject to applicable U.S. Government Export Regulations.
