Industry Day Announcement

Logistics Data Management Service (LDMS)

The Boeing Company, in conjunction with our partner Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), together acting as Lead Systems Integrator (LSI) for the Army, is pleased to announce a new competitive bid opportunity for Future Combat Systems (FCS) Logistics Data Management Service (LDMS). The FCS program is an integral component, with other key complementary U.S. Government and commercial programs, in the U.S. Army's goal to field the first Future Force Unit of Action by 2014. FCS is a networked "system of systems" -- one large system made up of 18 individual systems, plus the network, plus the soldier. It utilizes advanced communications and technologies to link soldiers with both manned and unmanned ground and air platforms and sensors. FCS is agile -- allowing forces to move quickly -- and versatile -- which allows troops to conduct a variety of missions.

On September 27th, 2005, the LSI will host an Industry Day event for companies interested in being considered as a potential supplier for LDMS. The LDMS is a supportability data management entity that provides for the management of logistics data as an integrated Battle Command service in conjunction with planned FCS System of Systems (SoS) capabilities and services. LDMS resides both internally and externally to the Unit of Action (UA); within the UA, LDMS is a part of the sustainment/Battle Command partition on the Integrated Computer System (ICS) using the System of Systems Common Operating Environment (SoSCOE) Communication and Data Store Services (DSS); external to the UA, LDMS uses the Distributed Product Description (DPD) (an element of the FCS Advanced Collaborative Environment (ACE)) to enable a federation type relationship to data that is resident at the source supplier and made available upon request at the DPD system level .

Internal to the UA, LDMS provides management services for dissemination of Performance Based Logistics (PBL) data collected by Platform Soldier-Mission Readiness System (PS-MRS) and aggregated by Logistic Decision Support System (LDSS). External to the UA, LDMS provides logistics data management services for integration and analysis with sources external to the UA. This data is used for analysis against Performance Based Logistics (PBL) metrics defined by the Product Support Integrator (PSI) for its associated Supply Chain Management (SCM). LDMS also assists in Unique Identification (UID) data collection and Integrated Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) Data Services (Change, Update, Discrepancy reports, etc.).

This Industry Day will be held in Philadelphia, PA.

Registration for this event will be sent via separate invitation. Interested parties should send their inquiries and completed questionnaires to: grpfcsl@boeing.com

Interested parties are also encouraged to review the PIA template. PIAs will need to be executed with all potential suppliers who wish to receive a Request for Proposal (RFP).

LDMS Supplier Questionnaire and PIA Template download page.

If you are unable to attend the Industry Day but would still like to receive RFP information please submit the questionnaire to the above mailbox, no later than 16 September 2005.

Foreign companies who have an interest in bidding on the LDMS package are urged to register and submit a questionnaire response as quickly as possible regardless of whether or not they plan to attend the Industry Day in order to give the LSI time to start preparing for the appropriate Export Control approvals.
