Boeing United Kingdom C-17 Team Wins Awards

LONG BEACH, Calif., April 19, 2001 -- The Boeing United Kingdom C-17 Integrated Project Team is the recipient of two procurement awards in the United Kingdom. Sir Robert Walmsley, Chief of Defence Procurement, declared the team the winner of the Defence Procurement Agency Executive Board Team Excellence Award for smart procurement practices.

The team also is one of six teams to be awarded the Minister of Defence Procurement Smart Acquisition Award. This award, which recognizes outstanding contribution to smart acquisition through teamwork and cooperation across the wider acquisition community, is selected and presented by Baroness Symons, Minister of Defence Procurement.

The first C-17 Globemaster III for the United Kingdom will be delivered only one year and a day from the initial Ministerial announcement - a record for U.K. aircraft acquisition. The project's success is founded on a close working relationship among Boeing, the United Kingdom's Defence Procurement Agency and the U.S. Air Force. The first aircraft will be delivered on May 17.
