U.S. Naval Reserve Celebrates Delivery of First Boeing C-40A Clipper
FORT WORTH, Texas, April 21, 2001 -- The U.S. Naval Reserve took delivery of the first of its newest logistics aircraft, the Boeing C-40A Clipper, Saturday in a ceremony at Naval Air Station / Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Texas. The Clipper is a modified 737-700 combi airplane that is certified to operate in an all-passenger configuration, an all-cargo variant or a combination configuration. Clippers will replace the Naval Reserve's current fleet of C-9B Skytrains. The Clipper is more fuel-efficient, offers increased range and payload capabilities; and meets or exceeds international noise and environmental requirements.
