The Strike Eagle Soars Over Seoul
In the blue autumn sky above Seoul, the F-15E Strike Eagle roared through a historic week of performances at the 2001 Korea Aerospace and Defense Exhibition -- the Seoul Air Show.
The show marked the first time the F-15E performed aerial demonstrations at an air show, and thousands of air show visitors received a firsthand look at the power, speed and agility of the U.S. Air Force's primary long-range strike fighter. The F-15K, a newer and more advanced version of the F-15E, is an entry in the F-X fighter competition in Korea.
Three operational F-15Es from the U.S. Air Force 90th Fighter Squadron, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, participated in the air show.
Boeing test pilot Joe Felock flew nine times during the show, performing high-performance maneuvers, including a vertical climb, square loop, high-g turn and others that showed the aircraft's unmatched power and handling characteristics.
