Hornet International Conference

Hornet 2008 Conference Letter

The Finnish Air Force (FiAF) has the pleasure to co-host the twelfth Hornet International Conference. The honour of hosting this presitgious event coincides most appropriately with the FiAF's 90th anniversary year. The FiAF is pleased and proud to invite you and the representatives of your staffs to San Diego, California, for HIC 08.

The HIC 08 continues the tradition of providing an excellent forum for the exchange of vital program information and current operational experience on the F/A-18 Hornet. The significance of the forum continues as the importance of globabl network centric operations and cooperation between operators continues to grow, and the operators continue to modernize their fleets to meet the evolving requirements.

I am confident that the tradition of successful conferences will continue with the 2008 event. This year's theme will be training techniques, lessons learned and deployment training. The old wisdom of "train as you'll fight" has not lost its importance in today's world, highlighting the challenges of training to meet the complex operational environments and modern systems.

Assured of the value of the event, I encourage all operator countries to participate. Support from all members of the international Hornet community ensure the value of the conference and enhances the worldwide prestige of the F/A-18 Hornet family.

The Finnish Air Force looks forward to enjoying the conference with your representatives in San Diego, California, 9-12 June 2008 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel San Diego -- Mission Valley.

Yours sincerely,

Commander of the Air Force
Lietuenant General
Heikki Lyytinen
