Conference Letter
26 February 2009
Members of the Hornet Community
Invitation to the Hornet International Conference 2009
1. The Royal Malaysia Air Force (RMAF) has the honour and pleasure of acting as co-host for the thirteenth Hornet International Conference. The RMAF continues to value our membership in the F/A-18 family as we progress into our second decade of Hornet operations. We are proud to be able to invite you and your representative staffs to Virginia Beach, Virginia or HIC-09.
2. This conference continues to be an excellent forum for the exchange of vital program information and current operational experience on the F/A-18 Hornet. The open dialogue fostered by this event becomes even more important as Hornet users seek to maximize the operational service life and increase the capability of their respective fleets. I am confident that the tradition of successful conferences will continue with the 2009 event.
3. This year's conference theme will be aviation safety. As the F/A-18 A-Ds continue to press into middle age and beyond, fleet safety issues become increasingly prevalent. Therefore, it becomes of even greater importance that user experiences are shared with the general Hornet community.
4. I wish to share my personal enthusiasm for the conference and encourage all operator countries to participate in this year's event. Support from all members of the international Hornet community ensures the value of the conference and enhances the worldwide prestige of the F/A-18 Hornet family.
5. The RMAF looks forward to sharing our experiences in the Hornet with your representatives in Virginia Beach, Virginia, 8-11 June 2009 at the Westin Hotel.
Respectfully,
TAN SRI DATO' SRI AZIZAN BIN ARIFFIN
General RMAF
Chief of Air Force
