Boeing/Insitu ScanEagle UAV Launched From Ship; Completes Historic Autonomous Flight
SEATTLE, May 11, 2004 -- Boeing's ScanEagle UAV approaches a ship for its first autonomous landing. The UAV was recovered using Insitu's Skyhook system, in which ScanEagle catches a rope hanging from a 50-foot high pole. The system allows ScanEagle to operate from forward fields and now ships at sea.
