Ken Heinly is the Director of Launch Products & Services. In this capacity he is responsible for two Boeing subsidiaries: Boeing Launch Services and Boeing Commercial Space Company. Boeing Launch Services (BLS) markets and provides Delta Launch Services to the commercial community. BLS procures these services from Boeing's United Launch Alliance (ULA) Joint Venture. Boeing Commercial Space Company (BCSC) provides the Payload Accommodations and Mission Integration Services to the Sea Launch Company, a multi-national company in which Boeing is a 40 percent owner. He is also in charge of Special Space Products programs which provide launch vehicle products and services to ULA.
Prior to this assignment Heinly was in charge of a variety of Launch Systems programs including New Horizons Upper Stage, Titan Payload Fairing, Inertial Upper Stage and the HIIA launch vehicle tanks for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
Heinly has also held key positions in Delta launch vehicle development. He was the Integrated Product Team leader for the Delta III and Delta IV Payload Accommodations, the Delta III Interstage and various Delta II upgrades. Prior to those assignments he was in charge of Delta Systems Engineering, including Safety, Reliability and Mission Engineering.
Heinly began his career at McDonnell Douglas as an engineer on the Spartan missile defense program. He held several positions of increasing responsibility as an engineering manager on the Titan payload fairing program and then as manager of various engineering functions on a variety of space and defense programs.
He currently serves as an Executive Advisor to the Boeing Aerospace Leadership Chapter of the National Management Association.
Heinly received Master of Science degrees in Aerospace Engineering and Civil Engineering from the University of Southern California. He also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Pennsylvania State University.
