| COMPLETED WING -- The portion of the Milstar satellite containing the medium-data-rate (MDR) communications payload and a portion of the crosslink payload, called the -X (minus X) wing, are shown here in the factory at Hughes Space and Communications Company. This is the completed wing for the Milstar F-4 satellite, which Hughes delivered in June 1998. Hughes began work in October on the F-5 -X wing, which will be delivered by May to prime contractor Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space Company. Hughes is responsible for supplying the MDR and crosslink payloads on the Milstar satellite program. |
