| ORION 3 -- Artist's rendering shows Orion 3, an HS 601HP model spacecraft ordered by Orion Asia Pacific Corporation of Rockville, Md. from Hughes Space and Communications Company International, Inc., of Los Angeles. The 43-transponder satellite will operate in both C-band and Ku-band, providing business communications services to users in all major Asia Pacific markets, including Korea, China, India, Japan, Australia, Southeast Asia, Oceania and Hawaii. Launch on-board a Delta 3 rocket is planned for 1998. Orion 3 will be located at 139 degrees East longitude above the Pacific Ocean and is Orion's first satellite to serve the Asia Pacific region. |
