SWEDEN'S SIRIUS 3 -- The newest HS 376 satellite to be built by Hughes is shown here in the Integrated Satellite Factory, the world's largest satellite factory. Here a Hughes technician uses a theodolite, a surveying instrument which measures horizontal and vertical angles, to guarantee that all of Sirius 3's components are aligned to meet precise specifications. The satellite, Sirius 3, is being built for Nordiska Satellitaktiebolaget (NSAB) of Sweden, and will join NSAB's current fleet to provide direct-to-home television service to the Scandinavian region. After an Ariane launch, Sirius 3 will be located in geostationary orbit and is designed to provide 12 years of service.
