| MONITOR PHOTODETECTOR - The Boeing Companys
subsidiary Spectrolab, Inc., offers a germanium-based photodetector designed
to monitor the power level of laser light sources used in fiber-optic
telecommunication systems. Shown is a germanium photodetector wafer measuring
4 inches in diameter. These Spectrolab products offer excellent performance
and potential cost savings of approximately 50 percent over indium gallium
arsenide monitor photodiodes. Spectrolab is a leading supplier of space
and terrestrial solar cells as well as searchlights. The company also
provides optoelectronics products such as this one, which are produced
using a state-of-the-art production reactor facility that is also used
in the production of solar cells. |
