THIRD TDRS - The third of a trio of Boeing-built next-generation NASA Tracking and Data Relay Satellites undergoes preparations before shipping to Kennedy Space Center, Fla., for a planned November launch. The Boeing 601 satellite known as TDRS-J was built and delivered by Boeing Integrated Defense Systems for NASA Goddard Space Flight Center of Greenbelt, Md. The TDRS satellites relay large volumes of voice, television and scientific data from manned missions such as the space shuttle or orbiting scientific spacecraft such as the Hubble Space Telescope back to ground control centers.
